24 Hours in Amsterdam
Discover how my friends and I spent exactly 24 hours in Amsterdam, Netherlands
We arrived in the hotel and got ourselves checked in. As I said, the trip was spontaneous so we lacked budget and we all had to share one double room, placed the top of the mattress on the floor (since it was a box-spring bed), and took the blanket case so that we would all be able to sleep there. We decided that we will not go back to the hotel until after clubbing so we made ourselves ready. I just placed my pair of high heels in my bag because I did not want to wear them while walking around the city.
We found ourselves in the Metro Station and we decided to head to the city center. The train ride took about 15 minutes. After arriving at the central station, we walked around the city center. Walking for a few minutes got us hungry so we decided to eat pizza while walking. Here's a photo of my crazy friends craving for pizza.
We found a bubble tea place and decided to chill there for about 2 hours since we were all just tired of walking, wanted to relax and also talk to each other. The Bubble Tea Place was called YoYo! I have been drinking milkteas ever since I was in high school in the Philippines and I highly recommend this one! It' has the friendliest staff and the cutest bubble tea store in Europe (in my opinion).
Did you know that smoking Marijuana is legal in Amsterdam? If not, then now you know. With that being said, we spent hour 5 looking for a place that sells Marijuana and we smoked it. Not too much though, don't worry. We paid about 3,50€ for a joint and it was really good.
Another thing that Amsterdam is known for is its Red Light District which looks like this:
Those windows with red lights are places where sex workers do their job. It's part of the culture in Amsterdam and I totally don't judge it at all. Walking around here, you will be able to see women dressed in sexy clothes standing behind a glass window and just waiting for a customer to go in the room and tadaa, sexy time! And this was what we did for 2 hours, we just walked around and observed Amsterdam's culture.
Pre-party mode was on! We went to a bar, still located in the red light district and got us drinks.
They mostly played Lady Gaga and Katy Perry songs in this bar so I was able to sing along and have fun! The name of the bar was Cafe Remember. 1 Heikingen Longneck costs 6,50€, 1 bottle of 7 Up for 5,50€ and a Spa Blauw 3€. The prices were pretty high but Amsterdam is in general not a cheap place anyway.
We were on our way to the club when we found Mcdonald's. What did we do next? Of course, we ate, again. Here, my friends and I ate our pre-club meal which is quite necessary prior to drinking alcohol. 3 burgers and chicken nuggets later, we were ready to go to the club! I changed to my high heels and walked a few meters to the club.
An hour was spent between eating at Mcdonald's to getting in the club. We had to wait a few more minutes before the entrance gates were open. Luckily, I was able to strike a conversation with another group of people and my friends joined us too so we all just talked until we were finally allowed to go inside.
What's the most common thing to do after a party? Eat at Mcdonald's (again), So after chilling there, we wanted to head back to the hotel already because we were all dead tired from all the walking and partying. Since taking the night bus would have taken an hour, we decided to take the taxi instead and paid around 30€ for it.
Sleeping time. Even though we all had to share the space, we were able to sleep like babies.
We made ourselves ready to go home, and that, ladies and gentleman, was how we spent 24 hours in Amsterdam.
