Camel Ride Experience in Morocco
I've always been curious about riding camels, how it would be, where we would go, or if I would even ever have the chance to ride one. My wish came true when I was in Agadir, Morocco!
How was it organized?
In Lunes D'Or, my hotel, we had a night show where performers showcased their talents in the hotel theater. An hour and a few snakes later, the show ended and they announced that they were offering tours, packaged services, and trips so that's when my camel trip was booked. So, basically the hotel organized everything and I just had to show up at the hotel reception and they came to pick me up and drove me to the location.
Where is Agadir?
Agadir is a city in Morocco and you can find it in the map here:
How was it?
First of all, prior to arriving to the site, they will first get the camels ready (if they haven't yet) and then you're basically ready to go! The trek we chose lasted for 2 hours and it was very chill, I would say. The best thing about the whole experience is that we had a very talented, multilingual and extremely friendly tour guide who cracked jokes all the time. I absolutely adored him and he was very good at his job.
Getting on top of the camel is definitely not as easy as it looks like! Since I'm very small, it was difficult for me to climb on top of it so the staff had to more or less help me. They had these leather "seats' so it was pretty comfortable. We were in a group and I decided to be in front of the line. Most of the time we were riding in a slow pace and be fast for about 5-10 seconds. It. was. so. much. fun. Seriously. The whole ride was filled with laughter! The end of the trek was beside a river that connected to the sea and the sight was absolutely breathtaking. Definitely worth a try!
The photo (above) shows the camel I was riding. I think its name was either "Mocha" or "Coffee". I'm not quite sure which one.
Where do I book it?
